Michal Porath
Michal Porath, also known as Micky, opened Prime Orthopedic Rehabilitation, along with Jessica Lowy, in 2014. Micky graduated from Binghamton University in 2000 with a BA in Psychology and then from Columbia University in 2002 with her Master’s in Physical Therapy. As an adolescent, Micky was on a NYS swim team which peaked her interest in Sports and Athletic Training. In college, Micky received her Athletic Training certification, as well as Aerobics Instructor and Yoga certification, which steered her towards Physical Therapy. After graduating from Columbia 21 years ago, Micky started her career working in outpatient facilities, treating student and adult athletes, working with the local high school teams, as well as treating individuals with general orthopedic diagnoses including total hip replacements, knee replacements, low back pain, shoulder and neck pain and postural related and repeated movement injuries such as rotator cuff impingement. Micky has since completed extensive continuing education in manual techniques including the McKenzie Approach, Mulligan Approach, Myofascial Release techniques, The Feldenkrais approach, as well as Sports Medicine and sports related injuries. Recently, Micky received her advanced certification in the Schroth approach for Scoliosis, and has taken courses in the SEAS scoliosis approach for active curve correction. Micky strongly believes in returning patients to their prior level of function, treating the patient as a whole. She utilizes an evidence-based approach to treatment, using up to date research and staying current through continuing education courses and physical therapy conventions. In her spare time, Micky enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and cooking.
